SEA HUNTER 10-19 REPORT

We made it out today with a handful of guys. We headed out and found several areas of birds working and lots of Stripers rolling and swirling on top. The only problem was it didn't last long. We managed one 33 inch Striper and a couple that followed up the jigs then they were gone. we  looked around but couldn't really  get any good marks on the fish finder, a occasional small mark but we could never get on them. When I stopped the boat we just stood still, If we had a little drift things may have worked out better. I watched the guys trolling them but it was not in a concentrated area. There are some Stripers around now for sure, We saw plenty of them but couldn't catch them. I don't know whats worse not seeing any or seeing them and not catching them. We did some searching in other areas after that but only saw albacore busting on top.We also found a few pods of bunker but nothing eating them. We are just gonna keep trying . See you soon, Capt. Rob

SEA HUNTER 10-17 REPORT

Not many people around again today. I cant blame them with the lack of good Striper reports going around.Yesterday Capt. Ron from the Fishermen gave me some people as he didn't have enough to get out. Today I returned the favor He had 6 people and I had 5 so I gave him my 5 people. Five or six people doesn't even cover expenses with these Party boats so its ridiculous to go out and loose money. If its a beautiful day and I know the fish are biting I will go out with a handful of people and wet a line myself. But when the wind is honking and the fishing is not good it doesn't make any sense. I have done it before, more then once and kicked myself in the ass for doing it. As you get older you get a little smarter. From what I heard today from a few guys who were out the Striper fishing was no good. There were a few fish caught at first light on bait but that was it, A few guys caught some trolling but it was not good. Tomorrows weather looks the same as today. I for one am going to take the day off and stay home and watch football and wait till Monday till I give it another shot. The Striper fishing usually starts getting better by the end of this week. In the past few years its been anywhere between Oct 17th and 25th.Its gonna happen but I don't think it will be tomorrow. You guys who know me and read my reports know I tell it how it is. There is no BS only facts. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
I will see you soon, Capt. Rob

SEA HUNTER 10-16 REPORT

I was happy to get out today. Still not many people down between the Striper and porgy boats as both fisheries have been slow. Anyway I left the dock today feeling good after the reports I had gotten yesterday I thought today could be the day we get this fall Striper season kick started. As we got near the grounds we could see lots of Bunker but unfortunately there were also lots of boats. Word travels fast now in the modern age of the internet. We started throwing jigs and shads and snagging and live lining bunker, on occasion you would see the pods of bunker explode as Stripers were attacking them.We could not catch one. A couple guys said they had the baits picked up and had a little run but couldn't hook them. I saw only one fish caught while I was there, I was told that at first light there were some fish caught but that was pretty much it. I hung in there hoping as the boats thinned out and the tide changed we would get a shot of fish, but it was not to be.  I headed back to the channel and tried some eels but we only caught one Striper and it was 23 inches long.
See what happens tomorrow. Capt. Rob
